The easiest place to begin feeling the energy of other people is with people that you love and/or have a strong connection with. We know people by how they act, look and our history of what these people do and say and feel. That only tells us about 50% – 75% of the story. Each person has their own energy and we have feelings toward other people reacting to their energy.

If someone you love walks in the room you “light up”. That body walked in the room as well as the personality. Perhaps they smiled at you and their eyes lit up as well. Maybe you have an intense attraction to that person and you feel a spark or a zap when you see them.

That same person could walk through the door and be angry about something. Yes, you can see it on their face but it might also blow you across the room and feel uncomfortable or maybe it frightens you. That is all energy and how you react is your response to that energy. A bit more subtle, you can feel the mood that person is in without any cues from their face or speech. You know this person well so you can detect the smallest shifts in their energy.

If you share a deep connection with someone, practice “feeling” them even if they aren’t in your presence. You don’t necessarily have to have your eyes closed but “tune in” to that person. Feel how you feel when you have been with that person. Picture their smile and the feelings you have shared together. Think of that person as vividly as you can. Good – feel the energy of that person? I guarantee that when you do they are thinking of you, too.

Great work – the next section will be on family members.
Have a great weekend!

Today I will live in the faith that all of the things that make me cry are as important as the exact amount of time it takes the whipped cream on my three year old’s sundae to melt.

That I don’t know everything, although I tire each day of trying
Such as the pattern of the tapestry of the universe that so delicately nudges me to turn left or right with the softness of a kiss.

Just for today I will forget even the secret wishes that I hold in my heart like tiny unopened gifts.

I will marvel at my own essence and see if I can’t feel each strand of hair hold on tightly in the damp breeze.

I know that nothing matters as deeply as the depth of my own heart
And the limitless love for presence in this life.

We are beings that live, breathe, love, rest and think… always thinking. That’s what makes us who we THINK we are. What would happen if you stopped thinking? Nearly impossible. What if we could tame our mind? (the PUPPY mind often called in Buddhism because it must be trained) If we could truly stop thinking for a few moments we could feel who we truly are. Maybe you’d feel love or joy. Maybe deep sadness. It’s a way to uncover the “feelings” that we hold, not just the thoughts about what we are feeling. Try it!!

If you are particularly stressed out or afraid, try to remember we are not our thoughts.

I think you are what you eat, too – thus my veggielovely site!!

Life is a balancing act
to lose awareness of where
you are at any time
is to risk falling off the
tightwire of life.

I was chatting with a friend recently, talking about goals and dreams. I was saying that there is always something that we want to achieve – something that’s out there that our heart desires that would make you “blow your mind happy”.

My friend replied that thinking that way implies that your life isn’t good right now and you will always look to the future or some “thing” that will make you happy. I can see the validity in that point of view but even hearing her say that made my heart drop just a little bit. Of course, if you are very happy and complete and have attained all of your goals that is fantastic. But, what is a goal?

Well, I have a goal for today – I’d like to stick with my diet, look up a new vegan recipe and try it out for dinner tonight. I’d also like to create and finalize a meditation related to weightloss by  the end of the week. My life is very happy and complete right now. I think if you look at long term goals you need to realize that you set and achieve goals every day.

So –  I happen to know that the friend I speak of has goals and here are some of them. She wants desperately to lose weight. She would love to add an addition to her house. She would like to redo her bathroom. She wants to help her daughter raise her grade in math. She loves to sing and I’ve heard her say that she’d love to sing in a group – maybe a chior.

So there you go. I know she is very happy in her life right now but look at the partial list of goals, desires and dreams. Those are the ones she says out loud. I bet there are a few of secret wishes as well.

What are your goals, desires and dreams? Think about them and, better yet, write them down!
