Wherever you are right now, take a moment to know that all things are exactly as they should be. Look around and notice what in your life has fallen into place that had every purpose in the world to be exactly that way. Now, take a moment to see beyond where you are and to think about your life with new wonder, with new eyes. Look at your life as this wonderful story that is unfolding all of the time. You aren’t in a race to get where you are going, you are simply unfolding.

Tools for the Journey

Inspiration for Change

Most of the book deals with profound change in your life. No matter what size of the transformation you wish to begin, you first need to make room for a miracle to happen….

To make room for miracles you will need to create actual space in your life and in your self. There are things you might need to let go of on the road to growth. This might not be a person or a place. It might be as simple as losing a few pounds to feel self-confident. Maybe it means leaving a job to find a new one where you can showcase your talents and abilities.

Clearing out your physical space, your body and your mind, sends a signal to the universe that you are ready to receive joy and direction. Clearing out clutter inside and out literally creates clarity.

You have to actually create space in your being to accept new life. You have to let go of your own story to be able to write a new one. You will need to let go of limiting beliefs so you can replace them with true facts about your abilities and your power to create the life of your dreams. You have to surrender. You also need to clear yourself of energetic blocks so new life can flow through you.

How do you know a miracle when it happens? It makes you feel wonderful and excited and just completely in awe of how this amazing gift made it’s way to you. It’s relief in the time of stress, a moment of joy in the times of sadness, renewal and love and opportunity no matter where you stand.

Keep your eyes open and ENJOY!

I’d love to hear about YOUR miracle… you can comment here or email me at

Another time of year when we begin anew… School starts, summer ends for everyone… Wow, did that go fast! How are you embracing change? For today, identify one small change that you have been putting off that would improve your life. It could be a dietary change, cleaning out a drawer or pantry or getting a new hairstyle. Change can be scary but we need to realize that we change every day. Each day our bodies change, the weather changes, people change and we change. When you change and the world changes you keep the flow of life going. Think about one change that you know will make your life easier and happier that might even prompt other, significant changes in your life. Have fun with this!

I have to be honest, I’ve never understood the theory that we have to forgive people that have done bad/terrible things to us. Why? Why forgive them and let them off the hook? Well, I’ve come to realize that it’s all about your own “energy”. To be truly happy and to have the energy of the universe flow through you, you have to have positive energy in your life. Blockages will only hold you back. You have to clear them and you have to look first at the things that are really upsetting that drain your energy the most. I definitely believe that you don’t have to forgive someone to their face. You’ll get the same clarity forgiving them in your heart. Clear out negativity and the positive will shine through.

I think for many people it takes a real wake-up call to decide to get healthy. It could be health or some change of circumstance that makes a person stop and look in the mirror. Following a miscarriage close to 10 years ago, I decided I’d do whatever it took to get healthy and feel good. I changed my diet to “moderately healthy” – now I’m vegan so I still had a journey ahead of me there. I went to a healer who was tremendously helpful, both in energetic healing and as a source of therapy. I went to wellness seminars. I took on a new exercise routine that wasn’t crazy – just an hour of walking the dog per day. I got certified as a Reiki practitioner and took yoga teacher training.

You know what? It helped. I think it really launched me on the journey to wellness. I think the thing that helped so much was that it was a diverse approach to healing. I approached it on different levels. Of course, healing takes far longer than we’d like. Still, I think I really benefited from a “whole person” plan.

If you are at a point in your life where you need to heal or just to investigate wellness techniques and options, the best thing you can do for yourself is to create a wellness plan. This might include the following:

Physical – begin a routine such as walking, joining a gym, taking yoga classes, doing some exercise videos. Ease into it – start at a few minutes a day and go from there. Get a physical & full blood workup. You want to start on a path knowing where you are currently so you can see where you go. Physically, you can actually count numbers to see how you’re new wellness routine is working.

Emotional – Consider coaching or short term therapy. Have a good cry, read an inspirational book. Find a place that you love to go to to think. Know that to overcome many feelings you need to live through them and process them first. Don’t back away from these feelings. Work through them. You can also label feelings if they are too difficult to deal with at the time. You can say, “this is sadness” or “this is anger” Feelings lose their power if you do this.

Mentally – Meditate!! See if you can take a break. Great if you can go on vacation! Sometimes I can get a mental break walking aimlessly around a bookstore or going to a movie. You want to get out of your own head and think about something other than yourself. It’s not taking a break, but you can also research whatever it is that is making you rewrite your life script – example, if you are ill you can learn as much as you can and maybe join a support group, etc.

Spiritual – Take a look and evaluate your spiritual connections. You need that connectedness to feel whole and remember your core beliefs. Do you belong to a spiritual community? Do you believe in God? the Universe? What is your faith? Have faith. You need to have faith.

Financially – Get your money in order. It feels great to face any money issues you have, no matter how unpleasant it might be, and settle up and clear out any debts. You really need to do this before you plan your wellness package. You need to know how much money you have to spend on some of the things you’d like to do. Put money aside for a fund specifically for fun/vacation.

Give it a try! From my own experience… it helped… a lot!

That’s all for now!

One powerful exercise that I ask my clients to do is to look at themselves in a mirror. In most cases, it’s a really hard thing to do. Stand in front of a full-length mirror (clothed or unclothed) and look at your body. Then, look at your face. What is your expression? Is it pride? Is it looking “lost” or confused? Is it sadness? Have you already criticized yourself within the first minute of looking at yourself? Why is that? This is you! It’s your amazing body that keeps you alive and well. It’s your beautiful face. I know I have said things about myself that no one would ever say to me, without any compassion. Do you really know yourself? Look into your eyes. What are you trying to say to yourself? Honestly, a lot of people can’t even do it for two full minutes. If you can, write down what comes up for you in a journal. Try the exercise again when you feel you can. The goal is to end up loving who you are as you are.

“Grounding” yourself means, literally, getting out of your head and your thoughts and coming back down to earth.

The best way to ground your energy is to literally take to the ground. Try hiking, camping, skiing… Gardening is a great way to connect to the ground and have earth and soil right in your hands. Plus, studies show that gardening can boost your mood and burn calories to garden PLUS the home-grown benefits!!

Taking a look at your diet is essential. Try to eat foods that are alive and come straight from the earth. Growing your own fruits and vegetables is the best way to do that!

Yoga is a great way to ground yourself. Notice where your body touches the ground in the different poses. Be sure to end with the Savasana pose, also known as “corpse” pose. The pose is done by laying down flat on the ground upon the earth – and, opposite of the name, you’ll feel more alive by doing it!

I’m a person who loves to sleep and hates getting up every single day whether I have to go to work or to a special event or to relax around the house. Sometimes, I get up and just sort of trudge thru the day or look forward to something else at some other time or worry about something else that happened or is happening or thinking about someone or something.. you get the idea. I heard someone saying this past weekend something I’d heard before but needed to hear it again and I’m going to share it with you…

Every single moment is something all it’s own. You will never get to live this moment again. Event in the space of a minute things change that you may or may not notice. Things are forever changing even it’s only on the smallest level. So… treat each moment as if it is only here once and you won’t have the chance to experience it again.

I moved all my life, switching schools 12 times in 12 yrs. There were parts of my life that were really hard to live through and other parts that were beyond wonderful. Because of that, I always knew that life changes all the time – for better or worse.

It’s inevitable that a new parent is going to suffer with no sleep and all of the things that come with a new baby – a hard time, indeed. People told me to enjoy it as best I could b/c that baby will grow up and you won’t have the opportunity to hold them, snuggle them, celebrate their first smile, first steps, and all of the other firsts.

Enjoy this moment b/c you’ll never get to live this moment again.

Well, if it would warm up here in the Northeast or if the sun would ever shine – it would be spring. And, at this time of year we naturally think “in with the new and out with the old”. Losing “clutter” which are things that no longer serve you. It might mean actual stuff around the house that has no place anymore – on the shelf or in your life! It also refers to the clutter within your body, such as weight. It can also be thoughts and/or beliefs that no longer serve you. Take some time to think about what that might be. Organizing or clearing out clutter in a room of your house is a form of self care. It’s a gift you give yourself. So – don’t find it daunting! Start one thing at a time and soon you’ll be able to create a comfortable space.

I have a feeling I’ll do more posts on this topic!

Until next time…

I really wince when I say this, but since I’ve crossed over the line of 40 I feel every injury I’ve ever had when I’m run down. I also happen to be really excited about this whole “raw food thing” and the program I’m offering as well as others I’m thinking of and my FREE 10 min. meditation that will be live by the end of the week. [you can claim your free meditation at www.enlightenedmeditations.com. There is so much information out there about raw vegan life, recipes, programs, articles, communities… I could spend all day reading about it.
Honestly, it’s all good stuff but I had a panic attack of sorts yesterday. All of all of it swirling around in my head so fast I couldn’t focus on any one thing. So, I decided to write it all down and that helped a lot. I also find that yoga helps me to focus on things one at a time – it’s really great and helpful. Sleep is another thing that is a must.
I do find that eating a clean diet of mostly vegan & raw makes my head so much more clear and I have more energy. My point is that my stress & exhaustion go way beyond that and I tend to be a little hard on myself for not getting things done or being too tired to complete a task… Worse yet when there are actual deadlines – like the holidays!!
So – let’s all remember that we are human beings. There is only 24 hrs in a day, hopefully sleeping at least 8 of them! My body is going to feel tired on a good day and my aches and pains are going to show up.
Here is a quote from Pema that I came across today and I love it. I think it speaks to the point that we are humans and to stop for a bit and notice our bodies. Maybe we can send some love to our aches and pain. Maybe we can honor our tired bodies with a hot bath (got any epson salts?)
Ahhh let’s give ourselves a break….

“It’s also helpful to realize that this body that we have, this very body that’s sitting here right now in this room, this very body that perhaps aches, and this mind that we have at this very moment, are exactly what we need to be fully human, fully awake, and fully alive.”
